Job Description

Our client is a premiere defense law firm, founded in 1996. They specialize in workers’ compensation, employment law, general liability, state audits, and subrogation. Our client is looking for attorneys who wants to join a well established and respected team. Our client is currently in search of Senior and Associate Attorneys with a minimum of 4 years of experience in workers’ comp - either plaintiff or defense side for a remote position.

Title: Workers Compensastion Attorney

Location: California (Remote)

Compensation: $120-210K

Responsibilities:

  • Advocate on behalf of insurance carriers, 3rd party administrators, and self-insured employers.

  • Prepare and manage correspondence to clients.

  • Draft pleadings and negotiate settlements on workers’ compensation files.

  • Attend court appearances, manage calendar, and conduct depositions and cross-examinations of doctors.

  • Negotiate lien claims and perform proactive case management.

  • Mentor and oversee legal assistant, ensuring effective case support.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, co-workers, and vendors.

  • Participate in marketing events with both new and existing clients.

  • Review and work on files, inputting case information into PracticeMaster and billing software.

  • Meet deadlines for client correspondence and attend client file reviews.

  • Conduct training seminars for clients on evolving workers’ compensation case law.

  • Stay updated on current knowledge of workers’ compensation case law.

Qualifications

  • Must have a well-established and exclusive employment litigation, defense background

  • Strongly preferred: Current or recent experience working with school third party administrator employment panels

  • Required: must have school district defense experience in employment law

  • Must have 4 years of employment law defense experience

  • Trial experience preferred, but not required

  • Experience with public entity defense a plus

  • Must have knowledge of class/PAGA inclusive

  • Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degrees

  • Member, State Bar of California in good standing

  • Superior research, analytical, and negotiating ability

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Commitment to proactive case management
