Your Role at KIK
KIK’s Corporate Responsibility Counsel serves as the company’s expert on corporate responsibility including compliance with international rules on fair competition, prevention of corruption and money laundering, sanctioned entities and countries, trade regulation, and supply chain transparency. The lawyer will develop and implement comprehensive policies and programs and provide practical guidance to a multi-location manufacturing and distribution operation located in the US and Canada, Europe, South Africa, and ANZAC, and across a global sales footprint. The lawyer will also partner with outside counsel to support the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety team on legal matters related to protection of the environment and employees. This position reports to the Chief Legal Officer.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing
Advise the company’s sales, procurement, distribution, and corporate functional teams on all aspects of compliance with international rules on fair competition, prevention of corruption and money laundering, sanctioned entities and countries, trade regulation, and supply chain transparency.
Develop and implement comprehensive policies and programs (including training programs) to promote compliance with the international rules identified above and conduct, or provide legal input and support for, internal investigations on compliance matters.
Working with outside counsel as necessary, provide timely and practical legal advice on compliance with federal and state or provincial laws protecting the environment, occupational health, and public and worker safety.
Track, analyze, and report on the performance of corporate responsibility policies and programs, partner with Internal Audit to conduct audits to identify trends, and report to the company and Audit Committee on progress and improvement opportunities.
Monitor legislation, case law, and government enforcement activity relating to corporate responsibility issues and provide proactive, strategic advice to internal stakeholders.
Assist the Chief Legal Officer with corporate secretarial duties.
Assist with corporate and financing transactions and other special projects.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
Active US state bar membership in good standing.
8+ years of experience with advising on international compliance.
Ability to analyze complex and evolving international laws, and apply findings to provide practical, effective counsel.
Ability to collaborate effectively across business functions and at various levels of the organization.
Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Flexibility for up to 25% business-related travel.
Experience with advising on corporate responsibility and compliance for midsize international manufacturing company is preferred.
Experience with advising on compliance with federal and state or provincial laws protecting the environment, occupational health, and public and worker safety is preferred.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. This position has a base salary range of $240,000-$250,000 plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including your relevant skills and experience.
