The Senior Financial Planning Analyst is an integral part of Latham’s Financial Accounting team. This role will be responsible for performing budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to guide business leaders in making informed decisions, while assisting the Director of Financial Planning on reports, ad-hoc analysis, and special projects as related to financial planning and expenses. This role will be located in our Global Services Office in Downtown Los Angeles. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Applying financial and analytical skills to create analyses and responding to various requests
- Regularly applying accounting practices, procedures, and knowledge of a wide variety of prescribed accounting codes and classifications to review and analyze partnership accounting reports and source data to detect inconsistent or issues, while fully investigating potentially inappropriate expenditures by applying professional skepticism and judgment
- Reviewing and analyzing partnership accounting reports and source data to detect inconsistent or issues
- Reviewing and presenting information regarding findings, and following up with appropriate management to ensure proper resolution or accounting adjustments
- Managing and supporting maintenance of detailed records documenting procedures, methodologies, sources of information, and assumptions while performing analytical tasks
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Possess advanced knowledge of complex accounting principles in both cash and accrual accounting
- Demonstrate familiarity with accounting practices and procedures, and exhibit knowledge of a wide variety of prescribed accounting codes and classifications
- Display excellent analytical skills needed for all primary duties of position, including comprehending and communicating data, and analyze and reconcile accounts
And have:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, business or related field
- Preferably a CPA
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with accounting practices and procedures
- A minimum of one (1) year in developing financial analysis and producing financial reports
- International accounting and financial reporting experience and foreign exchange exposure, preferably
- Public Accounting experience, preferably
