Internal Position Title: Grants Financial Assistant
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Supervisor: Director of Federal Grants

Salary: $35,000 - $40,000
This is a federally funded position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance for the employee and partial paid health insurance for qualified dependents. Annual and sick leave begin accruing immediately.
Position DescriptionThe District Attorneys Council, Federal Grants Division is seeking a Grants Financial Assistant to be responsible for assisting Grants Financial Managers with financial management, reporting, reconciling of federal funds, and the processing of disbursements for federal grant subgrantees through data entry and various entry level accounting duties. Funding for this position is through federal grants from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Qualifications- An associate degree in accounting, business, finance, or closely related field and one year of accounting experience is preferred. (Note: Relevant experience may be
substituted for a degree at the discretion of the agency’s Executive Coordinator).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint or Prezi, Excel, and Teams (or other virtual meeting platforms) is required.
- Proficiency in PeopleSoft is a plus.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and theories, audit requirements, financial statements and reports, accounting ledgers and journals, and computer technology related to accounting systems.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and regulations relating to the administration of federal grant programs.
- The ability to complete Federal Financial Grant Management Training.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
Assist Grants Financial Managers with the following duties.
- Maintain accurate ledgers and other fiscal records for multiple federal grant programs.
- Prepare quarterly expenditure reports and other information concerning financial requirements for federal grant programs.
- Reconcile accounting records across several systems to assure data is accurate.
- Reconcile and prepare monthly reports of receipts and expenditures for multiple funding sources.
- Prepare purchase orders for subgrantees and change orders as needed.
- Receive and process monthly requests for funds, distributing time sensitive warrants.
- Reconcile requests for funds of subgrantees with financial data for grant programs on a monthly basis.
- Prepare deposits in the PeopleSoft system.
- Keep up to date with CFR Part 200 Requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist Division Director on other duties as assigned.
