Job Description Summary:
Legal Interns in the City Attorney’s Office get exposure to a wide range of legal topics, including municipal law, civil litigation, prosecution, contracts, torts, property, water, environmental, and constitutional law.Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsibilities primarily revolve around legal research and writing on a wide variety of legal topics encountered by the City’s legal department. There will also be some responsibilities associated with traffic arraignments in Municipal Court for our Prosecution division.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed first year of law school.
- Available approximately 40 hours/week during the summer and approximately 10-15 hours per week during the academic year.
Preferred Qualification
- Completed second year of law school.

Working Conditions and Requirements
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents and materials. Sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate computer equipment and other office equipment. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to work in an office setting. Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer video monitor and/or operating a keyboard. Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions.
Work Environment
Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment. Works in a setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises. Work will be on a hybrid in-person/remote work schedule.
