Job Description

GrayRobinson, a full-service law and government consulting firm with 16 offices in Florida and Washington, D.C., has an immediate opening in our Washington, D.C. office for a Legislative Legal Assistant. This position will be on site and work directly with our lobbyist team and attorneys, providing administrative support in a high-volume office.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and familiarity with government affairs and the political process. Additional essential skills include exceptional written and verbal communication and experience working in research, journalism, media relations and/or communications in the government affairs space. Knowledge and experience working with a document management system and the ability to work effectively with others against deadlines are critical.

The position requires the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously with keen attention to detail, including:

  • Covering relevant hearings conducted by Congressional committees, regulatory agencies and industry organizations, and drafting summaries for client dissemination.
  • Assisting the lobbyist team in tracking key policy developments and disseminating timely information to clients via newsletters and interfacing with Client Development.
  • Following news media relevant to politics, related industries, and clients.
  • Assisting with the preparation of cases from onset through post-trial; obtaining and organizing case files; scheduling and coordinating hearings, depositions, and conferences; assisting with trial preparation; assisting with document production including creation and editing of correspondence and documents. E-Filing knowledge is preferred.
  • Drafting engagement letters, assisting with the processing of opening new matters and maintaining the office master client spreadsheet.
  • Processing expense reports, billing and coordinating travel arrangements.
  • Assisting with various office administrative tasks such as supply inventory, on-site events, “fly-ins”, invoice processing and other tasks as assigned.
