Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews incident reports, management notes, photographs, videos, and supporting documentation.

  • Requests additional information from staff clarification is needed.

  • Collects and analyze data to identify trends, best practices, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Prepare well-organized reports with findings and recommendations.

  • Provides feedback to institutional and agency leadership to support accountability and strengthen practices.  

  • Interprets and apply to agency policies consistently and objectively.

  • Presents findings through written reports and presentations.

  • Monitors compliance with policies, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify deficiencies or inconsistencies in incident documentation.

  • Tracks systemic issues and highlights best practices across institutions.  

  • Recommend improvements to enhance safety, staff training, and policy adherence.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant work experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required work experience.



SCDC Minimum Requirements:  
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
  • High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of relevant correctional or law enforcement experience, including experience reporting or documenting use of force incidents in a correctional or law enforcement setting. 

OR 

  • Associate degree and three (3) years of relevant correctional or law enforcement experience, including experience reporting or documenting use of force incidents in a correctional or law enforcement setting. 

OR

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of relevant correctional or law enforcement experience, including experience reporting or documenting use of force incidents in a correctional or law enforcement setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: ability to reference and apply policy standards when preparing documentation, analyze data and reports, and present findings In written or oral form. Familiarity with electronic reporting and tracking systems. Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
