SUPERVISOR: Litigation Partners

LOCATION: Century City

SALARY: The base salary for associate positions is $210,000 - $280,000, depending upon class year.

Our Litigation Group has a deep roster of talented commercial litigators practicing in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies nationwide. Our Los Angeles Litigation Department is a dynamic and growing group of experienced commercial litigators specializing in the film, television, and video game industries. 

We are seeking a highly motivated litigation associate who is eager for hands-on responsibility, approaches their work with urgency, and is committed to excellence. The ideal candidate should be a thought-partner in the development and execution of litigation strategies and must demonstrate a desire to push outside their comfort zone by engaging in front-line litigation work. 

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Proactively manage deadlines across multiple clients and matters.
  • Communicate with clients and colleagues in an effective and timely manner.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis, with an ability to explain complicated concepts in a straightforward and accessible way.
  • Take and defend depositions, argue motions, and examine witnesses at trial.
  • Strong writing skills, including for letters, pleadings, and motions.
  • Draft strategic discovery requests and responses; review documents efficiently with the goal of case analysis and trial preparation.
  • Demonstrate comfort in speaking and leading discussion, including with clients and internally.
  • Attend and participate in practice group meetings and events.

SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Highly-experienced in federal and California civil procedure.   Familiarity with ADR procedures (e.g., JAMS, AAA, IFTA) a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract claims, business torts, profit participations and the Talent Agency Act.
  • Must demonstrate pragmatism, pride in your work, and excellent judgment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4-6 years’ post-law school experience.
  • Membership in California Bar.
  • Strong academic credentials.
