
POSITION SUMMARY: Assist and work under the supervision of Citizens’ litigation counsel in the handling of first party-property claim litigation. Performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which litigation counsel will be responsible. This position is part of a defined CPIC program with a limited engagement term.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL, BASIC AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION. THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED.
- Assist Citizens’ litigation counsel and paralegal in the handling of first-party property insurance related litigation. Duties and functions will include:
- Gather and organize evidence, documents, and exhibits.
- Conduct online searches including those relating to properties, business organizations, permits, court dockets and records.
- Prepare draft written discovery requests and responses for approval by litigation counsel.
- Prepare deposition and trial notebooks.
- Prepare summaries of depositions and discovery responses.
- Assist in the preparation of pleadings and motions.
- Assist in trial preparation including organization of exhibits and preparation of demonstrative exhibits.
- Draft subpoenas for approval of litigation counsel.
- Assist litigation counsel in the preparation of required reports to Claims Litigation.
- Prepare initial draft of witness and exhibit lists.
- Communicate regular updates on assigned tasks, identify any blockers related to assigned tasks.
- Provide assistance to the Legal Administrative Assistant as needed.
- Follow and adhere to and maintain compliance with all standards and policies.
- May shadow multiple positions to gain knowledge and training.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint Outlook
- Knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Knowledge of discovery and litigation processes in the State of Florida
- Knowledge of online legal search systems such as WestLaw
- Quick learner

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma | GED,
- Bachelor’s Degree OR 3 years relevant experience, OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 3 years (Pursuit of JD degree)
AND
- 0 – 1 year of prior office work, intern program work
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school and completed the 1st year and/or 2nd year of law school.

- What percentage of time is accountable for transactional, day-to-day operational support? 100%
