The Ohio Department of Taxation is responsible for the administration of individual and business taxes across the state. What You’ll do as the Attorney 4 - Labor and Employment Law Attorney.

The Labor and Employment Law Attorney will reside in our Legal Counsel Division, largely supporting the Tax Commissioner's Office and Human Resources. This position is responsible for handling labor relations and employment law disputes lodged against the Department. The attorney will support the Department in various claims, including escalated agency grievances and complaints relating to discrimination and ADA compliance. In addition, this position will assist as counsel for miscellaneous Excise Taxes.

Other key duties include:

  • Providing legal advice to Tax Commissioner and HR personnel on labor relations and employment law matters, as well as other tax matters as needed.
  • Preparing and arguing agency position in quasi-judicial hearings.
  • Researching items for labor relations and employment law matters.

Qualifications

Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code; 12 mos. exp. as licensed attorney; 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development.
