Summary
193, LLC, a division of Legendary Entertainment, is seeking a VP of Business & Legal Affairs – International to join the team. This position will play a key leadership role in supporting the company’s global sales agency, content licensing and production efforts. Key responsibilities include negotiating and managing international distribution and sales agreements, overseeing related single-picture financing documents, and providing legal support on productions. The ideal candidate is an experienced entertainment attorney with deep experience in international licensing, distribution, production legal, and financing. This role is based out of Burbank, California.
Responsibilities
International Licensing & Distribution:
- Provide business and legal advice, guidance, and support on the company's international licensing strategy for motion picture projects.
- Negotiate and draft a range of distribution-related agreements, including international distribution deal memos and long-form licenses, notices of assignment, Collection Account Management Agreements (CAMAs), Interparty Agreements (IPAs), and other single-picture financing documents.
- Structure deals with individual territory distributors as well as global studio or streamer partners.
- Manage legal follow-through of executed agreements, including handling notices of default, termination, and other post-closing legal tasks.
Sales Agency Agreements:
- Negotiate and draft Sales Agency Agreements with third-party producers.
- Provide business and legal counsel throughout the sales agency process, ensuring deals align with company strategy and legal standards.
Production Legal Support:
- Provide legal support on production matters, including production service agreements, location agreements, crew and talent contracts, and other production-related documentation.
- Collaborate with internal and external production teams to identify and mitigate legal risks across all production phases.
- Review rights and chain-of-title documentation to ensure proper clearance for production and distribution.
- Coordinate with local counsel in foreign jurisdictions to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations for international shoots and co-productions.
- Support the structuring and negotiation of co-production arrangements, including treaty co-productions when applicable.
- Advise on production-related legal issues such as insurance claims, labor matters, and clearance challenges.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and current license to practice law in the state of California.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in business and legal affairs or entertainment law, with a strong emphasis on international licensing, production legal, distribution, and financing.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating complex international distribution, sales agency, and production-related agreements.
- Strong understanding of international deal structures, production environments, and territory-specific legal considerations.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Business-minded legal strategist with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives.
- Experience working with global partners, producers, and legal counterparts in multiple jurisdictions.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $180,000 to $220,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. Total rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. Legendary Entertainment also provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, employee wellness programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, year-round paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, market demands and indicators, specific and unique skills or training, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City and California.
