Represent HSI and its subsidiaries in a broad array of Labor and Employment legal matters. Provide high-quality, practical and business-oriented legal advice and counsel to the Company’s respective HR Business Partners and business units. Identify, analyze and assist in developing legal solutions for many diverse and complex labor or employment law issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide advice, counseling and support to HR Business Partners, HR’s Centers of Excellence, and the business units on various labor and employment topics, including, but not limited to, employee terminations, performance management, investigations, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, restructuring, employee benefits, immigration, wage and hour, and executive compensation.
- Manage and implement strategy on pre-litigation and litigation matters.
- Manage outside counsel on employment litigation matters.
- Manage legal risks and provide solutions for resolving employment disputes.
- Draft and edit employment-related documents, correspondence, policies, agreements, and responses to agency proceedings (i.e., OSHA, EEOC).
- Coordinate and manage employment related projects, including internal process reviews, new policies and implementation, and training programs.
- Develop trainings related to employment law matters, including researching changes in employment laws and regulations, preparing PowerPoints, creating templates, and presenting before the HR team and business leaders.
- Effectively communicate employment advice and counsel, verbally and in writing, with HR, Compensation, Benefits and Payroll teams, business leaders, and third parties.
- Keep current on recent developments in employment law and evolving best practices; maintain strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to provide training and updates as needed; assist in implementing proactive compliance.
- Provide legal support for the Company’s diversity and inclusion efforts.
- Provide advice and counsel with respect to enforceability of restrictive covenants and draft and negotiate restrictive covenant agreements.
- Assist in monitoring and compliance with wage and hour issues (including DOL audits) and federal contractor compliance (including OFCCP audits, equal employment opportunity and affirmative action requirements).
- Assist in advising the Company with respect to employment law related matters in domestic and international M & A transactions, including facilitating the due diligence process and assisting in drafting, reviewing and negotiating employment-related agreements.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of law firm and/or in-house experience post Bar admission.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
This position requires a Juris Doctor degree and the candidate must be a member in good standing in the New York State Bar.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
To the extent this job is performed in NYC, the salary range for the position of Senior Associate Counsel, Labor & Employment is $109,807 to $171,574. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
