Primary Function of Position
As the Intellectual Property Docketing Specialist, you will serve as the technical lead for the intellectual property docketing function, coordinate with other members of the team to improve internal docketing practices and to support the work of the agents and attorneys in the department.
Essential Job Duties
- Maintain and manage the Intellectual Property docketing system, ensuring all deadlines and actions are tracked and met.
- Accurately enter and update patent application data, including filing dates, office actions, and correspondence with patent offices.
- Monitor and track all domestic and international patent prosecution deadlines.
- Review and process incoming correspondence from patent offices and other legal representatives.
- Generate docket reports and provide status updates to legal and business teams.
- Ensure compliance with USPTO, PCT, and foreign patent office rules and regulations.
- Coordinate with attorneys, inventors, and outside counsel to ensure timely responses to office actions and other required filings.
- Maintain and improve docketing processes for efficiency and accuracy.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years’ experience with patent and trademark docketing.
- Familiarity with patent filing procedures in multiple jurisdictions.
- MyUSPTO, IPFolio, ePCT a plus.
Required Education and Training
- Paralegal certification or IP-related certification a plus.
