Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Corporate Paralegal specializing in Labor & Employment law, with a strong emphasis on labor relations, to join our dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the legal department by handling a wide range of labor and employment-related matters, including labor relationships, arbitration preparation, supporting the HR business team, collective bargaining, litigation support, policy development, and at times contract management. This position requires a deep understanding of labor and employment laws, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. (Position 2)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborates with and provides guidance and assistance to the Legal department on litigation and corporate governance matters. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Labor Law and Relations: Support company compliance with National Labor Relations Act and collective bargaining agreements, processing labor disputes and EEOC complaints, advise HR on labor disputes, manage mediation and arbitration process to include intake and response preparation. 

  • Legal Support: Assist in managing labor and employment legal matters, including employee relations, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour compliance, and labor disputes. 

  • Policy Development: Draft, review, and update company policies and procedures related to labor and employment law to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. 

  • Litigation Support: Provide support in litigation and administrative proceedings, including gathering and organizing documents, managing discovery, drafting responses to interrogatories and subpoenas, and coordinating with outside counsel. 

  • Contract Management: Review, draft, and manage employment contracts, severance agreements, non-compete agreements, and other related documents. 

  • Compliance: Monitor changes in labor and employment laws and regulations, ensuring the company's policies and practices are compliant. Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to legal standards. 

  • Training: Assist in developing and delivering training programs on labor and employment laws and best practices for management and HR teams. 

  • Employee Relations: Provide support in handling employee relations issues, conducting internal investigations, and managing disciplinary actions. 

  • Records Management: Maintain accurate and organized records of all labor and employment-related legal matters, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with retention policies. 

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR, compliance, and other departments to ensure alignment on labor and employment issues and to provide legal guidance on various initiatives. 

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research on labor and employment law issues and provide analysis and recommendations to the legal team. 

  • Supporting litigation, mediation, arbitration, and responses to complaints.

  • Renewing and maintaining company registrations and licensing.

  • Managing various business entity documents with State agencies.

  • Assist with legal transactions including legal diligence.

  • Partner with members of the legal team on other projects as necessary.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience working as a corporate paralegal and/or law firm.
  • Experience with labor & employment 
  • Understanding of current employment and human resource related laws and developments. 
  • Prior experience working with Human Resources to support compliance is a plus. 
  • Self starter who is adept at project management, and can meet deadlines with quality work product
  • Arbitration & Litigation experience is desirable.
  • Experience reviewing Government contracts
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational, written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on importance and urgency.
License/Certifications:

Paralegal certificate from an accredited program required.


Salary
  • $85,000 - $110,000/year
