
The Corporate Attorney position is a legal generalist role responsible for providing legal advice and counsel in matters related to corporate law, supplier/distributor transactions, real estate purchases, leases, employment matters, general contract negotiation, dispute resolution and regulatory compliance. This role reports to the General Counsel.
Job Description:
- Give accurate and timely advice to executives and other management on a variety of legal topics (commercial transactions, employment law, regulatory compliance strategies, dispute resolution, etc.)
- Manage legal entity records
- Collaborate with management to devise efficient, proactive strategies to defend the company’s interests and manage its legal risks
- Develop practical and effective legal/compliance policies and procedures, and regularly monitor compliance
- Communicate and negotiate on a regular basis with external parties (regulators, opposing counsel, public authorities, etc.) to create relationships of trust
- Negotiate and draft agreements covering a variety of subjects, including real estate purchase and lease agreements, trademark licenses, distribution and supply agreements, IT licenses, and merger/acquisition agreements.
- Manage employment claims and litigation and routine commercial/contract disputes
- Deal with complex commercial problems involving multiple internal and external stakeholders where high technical proficiency, practicality and emotional intelligence are all important
- Conduct work with a high degree of integrity and accountability
- Develop and maintain current knowledge of Federal and State alcoholic beverage laws and regulations
Job Requirements:
- 4-8 years experience as a practicing attorney. Some in-house experience is preferable, but not required for consideration. Must have significant experience working directly with senior level clients.
- Proven experience as legal counsel in a business environment
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and commercial transactions
- Experience handling legal disputes, either as a litigator or through management of litigation
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement proactive risk management strategies
- Prior experience directly advising clients on the following: contracts, employment law, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution.
- Prior experience with the beverage alcohol or consumer packaged goods industries is a plus
- High degree of professional ethics, integrity and self-sufficiency
- Outstanding communication skills
- J.D. degree from a top tier law school
The expected pay range for this role is $96,594.00 - $160,590. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, union status (where applicable) and alignment with market data.
