Position Summary:

The IT Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring systems, networks, and IT support functions are running smoothly. This role involves managing IT staff, technology vendors, budgets, and assets, as well as implementing processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and service quality. The IT Operations Manager also plays a critical role in leadership updates, managing the IT support team, providing technical assistance, developing policies, and leading IT projects to enhance the overall IT service delivery and operational performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations and Infrastructure Management
    • Oversee daily operations of the IT department, including network administration, server management, and end-user support.
    • Monitor IT systems to ensure optimal performance, stability, and availability.
  • Team Leadership and Management
    • Lead, mentor, and manage the IT support team, including hiring, training, performance management, and resource allocation.
    • Support the IT team in resolving escalated issues, providing technical guidance when necessary.
  • Policy Development and Compliance
    • Develop, implement, and enforce best practice IT policies and procedures, including those governing IT support services.
    • Ensure IT operations align with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Budget and Cost Management
    • Manage the IT budget, including forecasting, tracking expenditures, and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings through vendor negotiations, process improvements, and efficient use of resources.
  • Asset Management
    • Oversee the lifecycle management of IT assets, including procurement, inventory tracking, maintenance, and disposal.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of hardware, software, and licensing to optimize asset utilization and reduce costs.
  • Incident, Problem, and Change Management
    • Manage incident and problem management processes to ensure timely issue resolution and service continuity.
    • Oversee change management initiatives, including system upgrades, software deployments, and implementation of new procedures.
  • IT Support and Service Quality
    • Manage IT support tools and systems, such as help desk software and monitoring tools, to provide efficient technical assistance.
    • Ensure high-quality IT support, monitoring team performance, and implementing improvements to maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management
    • Manage relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand IT needs and deliver solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement and Project Management
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance IT operations and support services.
    • Lead IT support projects related to deploying new technology, upgrading systems, or improving operational procedures.
  • Security and Risk Management
    • Implement and maintain security protocols to protect IT systems and data from cyber threats.
    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with IT operations, ensuring compliance with security standards.
  • Leadership Updates and Reporting
    • Provide regular updates to leadership on IT operations, projects, and strategic initiatives.
    • Prepare reports on IT performance, budget status, and key metrics to inform decision-making.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in IT management, with technical proficiency in IT infrastructure, networks, and cloud-based computing.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in team management, delegation, and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Information Technology, Operations Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • ITIL
  • COBIT
  • CGEIT
  • CISM
  • CITM
  • Lean Six Sigma

 

Physical Requirements

  • Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.  
  • Stand/Sit – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time. 
  • Walk – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc. 
  • Use of hands/fingers to handle or feel – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer. 
  • Climbs stairs – May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.   
  • Carry weight/lift - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
