PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for drafting and negotiating contracts and advising on property-level operational issues; supervising litigation, including insurance defense matters, landlord tenant disputes and bankruptcy matters.
- Advise Senior Management on legal issues and participate in the daily management and operation for a shopping center portfolio.
- Advise asset management and operations staff on a broad spectrum of contract and litigation issues.
- Perform legal research.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Administrative Staff
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
EXPERIENCE: At least three years' legal experience with a focus on contracts, landlord-tenant law, insurance defense and commercial litigation. Knowledge of leasing, secured transactions and bankruptcy helpful.
Must be admitted to practice law in New York or be eligible for registration as In-House Counsel under 22 NYCRR 522.
OTHER QUALITIES: Ability to manage a high volume of legal matters in a fast-paced work environment. Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate effectively.
