Duties If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing substantive legal support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in the Financial Litigation Program. Typical work assignments will include: Perform specialized legal research and writing, including research and analysis of statutes, legislative intent, judicial precedents, agency rules and regulations, and law review articles as they relate to assigned cases. Review and organize complex factual material and other documentary data for investigations, debtor exams and trials. Prepare a variety of substantive legal documents to include motions, foreclosures, garnishments, and other legal actions to effect necessary post-judgment action regarding debts owed to the U.S. government. Monitor the progress of pending cases and initiate action to insure that legal pleadings, forms, reports, correspondence and other documents are prepared and submitted within established deadlines. Perform full range of collection activities ensuring compliance with the Federal Claims Collection Standards. Assignments typically relate to such areas as the collection of claims by various agencies against debtors arising from criminal and civil actions, impact of various judicial decisions in the financial litigation area, opinions, determinations, and rulings on financial litigation cases relevant to the District. Incumbent has the direct authority to work out and approve repayment plans within the District guidelines. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Each grade has 10 step rates and new Federal employees are usually hired at step one of the applicable GS grade level at which the applicant qualified. The salary range for a GS-9 in San Francisco, California is $76,397 - $99,314 (step 1 through step 10). The salary range for a GS-11 in San Francisco, California is $92,433 - $120,157 (step 1 through step 10). Salary- $76,397 - $120,157/year
