Job Description

Shutts & Bowen, a full-service law firm serving clients locally, nationally, and internationally, is seeking a Trust & Banking Coordinator to join our firm.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Post incoming wires received through various Treasury Management platforms.
  • Process outgoing wires and check requests for all real estate closings and settlement payments.
  • Assist in the opening and closing process of firm bank accounts.
  • Open and close investment subaccounts for trust escrow deposits.
  • Assist with requests relating to voided trust checks, stop payments, and reissuing stale-dated trust checks.
  • Process firm-related outgoing wires and post corresponding general ledger transactions.
  • Reconcile firm and trust bank account statements.
  • Back up the Cash Receipts team by posting incoming operating account deposits.
  • Physical attendance and punctuality at the place of work.
  • Performs additional duties as instructed and assigned.

Skills and Educational Requirements

  • Experience working with online business banking or Treasury Management platforms.
  • Aderant accounting software experience
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Reliability, teamwork, professionalism, ability to multitask, and attention to detail are essential.
  • Must have 3 - 5 years of work experience in law firm accounting.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Including lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, typing/using a keyboard, writing by hand, and collating/filing.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
  • Primarily a sedentary role; however, some filing is required; it would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Full-time position.
  • Hours are 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, with the flexibility to work extra hours, as needed.
