Job Description

Daikin Comfort Technologies North America, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified transactional attorney with a strong knowledge of the law and the ability to deal tactfully with matters across sales, marketing and credit divisions. 

May include:

•Draft and negotiation of legal documents and contracts in support of the marketing, sales and distribution as well as credit teams

•Provide clear and effective counsel on a variety of legal issues, including advising on contract risks and potential legal liabilities and risk mitigation

•Assist on U.S. and cross-border merger & acquisition and acquired entity integration support as needed

•Counsels and collaborates with business and functional colleagues to effectively anticipate, research and communicate regarding relevant legal issues

•Effectively anticipate, research, and communicate regarding relevant legal issues

• Implements and refines policies and guidelines

•Effectively anticipate, research, and communicate regarding relevant legal issues, draft letters, reports and other documentation

•Develops and provides legal and compliance training to company personnel

• Works collaboratively and effectively with Legal Department colleagues, external counsel, internal business and functional teams, risk management, and insurance carriers

• Anticipates, researches, and communicates regarding legal issues that could impact the company

• Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs

Nature & Scope:

• Develops and implements strategic plans and objectives for the department/sub-function in an effective and innovative fashion

• Understands the business and can put together comprehensive department solutions 

• Works with other leaders to establish strategic plans and works towards achieving them

• Provides leadership and direction to managers in their respective division/department

• Sees to department staffing needs (e.g. interviewing, hiring, new hire and ongoing training, annual evaluations, etc.)

• Participates in budget development and monitoring of expenses

• Level of signing authority established by company policy/guidelines

Knowledge & Skills:

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Adobe Professional.  Experience in using e-billing and matter management systems is a plus.  Other important skills include: 

• Strong negotiation skills, Strong drafting skills and attention to detail 

• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and develop and maintain positive relationships with others at all levels inside and outside the company

• Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity on the job

Experience:

• The ideal candidate will have 5 plus years’ transactional experience at a large law firm and/or in-house experience. Experience with manufacturing and/or construction is a plus. 

Education/Certification:

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar of the State of Texas
