Summary
F3 Law provides essential legal support to California's public schools and community colleges, helping them navigate complex legal issues to fulfill their mission of serving students and communities. We are seeking a dedicated, experienced Litigation Attorney to assist K-12 schools and community colleges in overcoming a wide range of legal challenges.
Responsibilities
- Support partners and senior attorneys in all phases of civil litigation, including case assessment, discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on substantive legal issues
- Manage case deadlines and ensure timely filings and compliance with procedural rules
- Participate in client interviews, witness preparation, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, and additional litigation documents, inclusive of motions for summary judgment
- Engage with insurance professionals, in-house clients, experts, third-party administrators, opposing counsel, and witnesses
- Take and defend depositions, including of key party witnesses and experts
- Attend and participate in mediations
- Attend court hearings, argue motions, and assist in trial proceedings as appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with senior attorneys and partners throughout all stages of litigation, from inception through trial
- Assist in the defense of complex civil litigation matters, including:
- General liability cases, encompassing high-value claims arising from motor vehicle collisions, trucking litigation, premises liability, workplace accidents, professional negligence, and products liability disputes, including cases involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death
- Construction litigation matters, including breach of contract disputes and property damage claims arising from construction and design defects

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - 2-10+ years of litigation experience, ideally encompassing the full spectrum of civil litigation, from initiation to resolution, including drafting and arguing motions (e.g., summary judgment) and taking/defending depositions.
- Candidates must be members of the State Bar of California.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Must have excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and issue-spotting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to manage a full caseload independently, handling cases from start to finish.
