About the Role:

Oxford Industries, Inc. (OXM) is a leading apparel design, marketing and retailing company whose brands include Tommy Bahama, Lilly Pulitzer, Johnny Was, Southern Tide, The Beaufort Bonnet Company, Duck Head and Jack Rogers. We are seeking a smart, energetic, business-minded attorney who would thrive as a legal “generalist” in a small legal department and fast-paced business environment. While this role encompasses broad legal support across the organization, there will be particular emphasis on technology, marketing, privacy compliance, and commercial contracting matters that are essential to our business operations. This role would interact directly with the Company’s business clients on a routine basis.

This position is hybrid-remote and will work in our Atlanta office 60% of the week.
  • Drafting, reviewing, analyzing and negotiating a variety of contracts, with a particular emphasis on information technology and marketing related agreements, but also including general services, consulting, and IP licensing related agreements
  • Supporting our brands in marketing compliance, including reviewing marketing collateral, negotiating agreements with promotional partners and advising on marketing initiatives and promotions
  • Advising on consumer privacy compliance matters, including implementation of privacy policies, data collection and processing practices, conducting privacy impact assessments, vendor data sharing arrangements, and compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations
  • Assisting with managing pending and open litigation matters and other claims internally and with the assistance of outside counsel
  • Providing advice on all types of legal matters and developing knowledge/expertise in new areas of the law as necessary to support our businesses
  • Collaborating with legal team on a variety of brand and corporate legal issues
  • Providing legal support for our brands in a generalist capacity, handling a wide variety of legal and compliance matters
  • Developing a strong knowledge of our business operations and products

Qualifications, Skills and Other Attributes:

  • J.D. from top law school with strong academic credentials
  • 3+ years' experience (law firm experience required; in-house experience a plus but not a prerequisite)
  • An attorney with strong transactional experience may be a good fit. Experience in one or more of the following practice areas would be a plus:
    • General commercial contracts
    • Ecommerce/technology/digital with an emphasis on marketing technology
    • Privacy compliance
    • Retailing/consumer law
    • Intellectual property (trademarks, copyrights and/or licensing)
    • Mergers and Acquisitions
    • Litigation and dispute resolution
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Highly analytical; excellent problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure
  • Good commercial judgment
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Maturity, initiative, energy, adaptability, and a strong desire to learn the business
