Job Description

PJI Law, PLC, a boutique, service-focused, and fast-growing Virginia law firm, has a new full-time opportunity for a Paralegal in its new Richmond location. Our firm has recently expanded into the Richmond market in order to build on its success in its northern Virginia headquarters, and this Paralegal position is ideal for a go-getter with a strong work ethic who has a desire to be part of our Richmond success story!  



Our firm exists to help those who wish to obtain legal protection and security for their families, sometimes in the wake of a personal, professional, or financial loss. This position will be assisting our Estate Administration team, and plays a critical role in ensuring that our team is positioned to deliver industry-leading service to our clients that align with the firm’s goals.



As Paralegal, you would provide critical support to our attorney in providing elevated service to our clients. Your primary duties will include but are not limited to: 



  • Creating and maintaining client folders.
  • Scanning and organizing documents into the case management system.
  • Preparing pleadings for filing with the court or the Commissioner.
  • Preparing and sending documents, letters, emails, and faxes.
  • Assisting with the preparation of discovery, trial/hearing binders, inventories, accountings, and other projects.
  • Communicating with clients, co-counsel, opposing counsel, courts, Commissioner’s offices, vendors, and other third parties, ensuring high quality service with each interaction.
  • Performing notary services.
  • Conducting court runs.
  • Identifying opportunities to maximize client satisfaction with our firm through gifting, referrals, or additional legal services.
  • Completing other assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Meeting the billable requirement of three hours per day.
  • As the firm continues to build and grow its new Richmond location, fulfilling receptionist duties and other office needs on a temporary basis, and afterwards in a backup capacity.



This position requires a person who is kind, self-driven, detail-oriented, highly organized, a team player, and has high standards for their work product. Your willingness to perform these duties will showcase your versatility and commitment to contributing to the overall success of the team. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of experience working in the legal field. Additionally, they should be experienced in effective communication with clients, colleagues, court personnel, and vendors. Additional training will be provided.

Additional qualifications include:



  • This position is in-person and based in our Richmond, VA office.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to genuinely connect with people.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to closely follow established policies and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, including impecable spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to multitask, be flexible, think on your feet, adapt to change, and make decisions based on good common sense.
  • Ability to learn from constructive feedback.
  • Proficiency in the use of Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to learn new software and technology.
  • Familiarity with local filing procedures. 
  • Ability to go the entire workday without checking Facebook/Instagram/etc.
  • You must have a car, as it will sometimes be needed for job-related duties.



Compensation is in the range of $52,000 to $60,000+ per year, including bonus payments, with potential for further compensation growth. The included bonus compensation consists of an objective, metrics-driven structure that gives you more control over what you can earn, and that ensures that you succeed when you help the firm succeed.
