
Salary:
Paralegal I: $24.88- $31.725
Paralegal II: $26.37- $33.63
The City Attorney’s Office has an opening for an experienced paralegal to perform paraprofessional, legal support services and case management for attorneys in the Civil Litigation Section of the City Attorney’s Office. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense litigation and possess exceptional knowledge of civil litigation, with a proven track record of independently managing a diverse caseload and experience in drafting pleadings and conducting all aspects of discovery. Experience in handling litigation in both state and federal courts would be considered a plus. Applicants must be able to work independently and proactively as well as within a team environment. Paralegals work under the general supervision of the litigation attorneys. Salary based on qualifications and experience .
Minimum Qualifications:
Paralegal I: Associate's Degree in Legal Services or related field and two (2) years experience in a law or judicial office as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal, one (1) year of which must have been as a Paralegal working in an area relevant to the area of assignment (criminal law, real property, or general civil); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A paralegal certificate may substitute for the requirement of one year of paralegal work. Must demonstrate the ability to type at least 35 words per minute.
Paralegal II: Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Legal Services or closely related field and four (4) years relevant paralegal experience in a law or judicial office in an area relevant to the area of assignment (criminal law, real property, or general civil); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must demonstrate the ability to type at least 35 words per minute.

- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
