The Team provides primary legal coverage in the areas of Intellectual Property, Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Technology Transactions. The Team also supports many of the firm’s most innovative and cutting edge initiatives, including new products and services, the acquisition of new brands and companies, research and development, and external partnerships and collaborations.
We are currently seeking an Associate/Counsel to join the Technology and Intellectual Property Legal Team as a member of the Intellectual Property Legal team, specifically supporting the firm’s trademark and copyright practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an intellectual property attorney to work with some of the most prestigious brands in finance. Job responsibilities
- Analyze trademark search results and provide clearance for use of trademarks globally
- Manage prosecution and enforcement for a global trademark portfolio across multiple brands
- Assist with copyright matters and use of third party content
- Collaborate across legal teams to provide expert legal advice to all lines of business on trademark and copyright related inquiries
- Draft, review, and negotiate IP provisions across various agreements, including trademark and copyright licenses, marketing and branding agreements, and intellectual property acquisition and settlement agreements
- Review, interpret, and analyze IP agreements, advising clients and partners on IP rights and responsibilities related to those agreements, including in light of JPMorgan Chase policies and regulatory guidance
- Provide training and support to the organization on IP-related legal issues
- Manage relationships with external counsel and monitor their performance and costs
- Assist with trademark and copyright litigation
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- 1 to 4 years of legal experience with a strong interest in and desire to develop intellectual property law skills, specifically within the trademark and copyright practice
- Active membership in good standing with a state bar
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong business judgment and strategic thinking
- Proven ability to independently identify issues, analyze problems, and provide practical, business-oriented solutions
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of personnel and management, including senior executives
- Ability to work accurately under pressure, handle deadlines, and manage multiple tasks in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus across a global matrix organization
