
About this opportunity:
We are now looking for a Patent Assistant/Paralegal to assist Patent Attorneys within our Patent Development department. Patent Development is part of the IPR & Licensing organization at Ericsson and is made up of 12 different Patent Units in Sweden, Canada, Germany, England, China, and the United States. The open position is within Patent Unit USA, based in Plano, TX.
As part of our team, you will ensure that the administrative part of Patent Development work is handled with diligence, accuracy and care and performed in accordance with our internal policies and patent law! You will get the opportunity to collaborate with Patent Attorneys, Patent Paralegals, Inventors, Patent Unit Managers and Outside Counsel / Law firms in the US as well as globally.
What you will do:
- Handle the reception and processing of new invention disclosures
- Prepare and file patent applications and prosecution documents with the USPTO.
- Lead all aspects of domestic and foreign patent prosecution docket
- Be responsible for preparing and handling formal documents, recording of data, and handling of tasks and workflows in our IP management system, Anaqua.
- Depending on interest and needs, be part of project assignments.
The skills you bring:
- A bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate or equivalent experience within a patent law firm and/or in-house patent department.
- At least 4-years of experience with US patent administrative, docketing, and paralegal work. International (PCT) experience is also helpful.
- A genuine interest and some knowledge of the patent process, laws, and regulations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A keen eye on details and excellent organizational skills.
- The ability to work well in teams as well as under your own initiative.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Your Pay
The salary range for this position is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. The Ericsson US 401(k) Plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and Ericsson matches $1 for every $1 you put into the 401(k) Plan on the first 3% of your eligible pay, plus 50 cents on every $1 on the next 2% of eligible pay. When you contribute at least 5% of eligible pay, you are receiving Ericsson’s full matching contributions. Matching and company automatic contributions stop when your total eligible pay for the year reaches the IRS limits. Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
