Position: Investment Funds Counsel
Location: San Francisco, CA
Our client, a highly respected AmLaw 50 law firm with a dynamic Financial Services team, is looking for an experienced Investment Funds Counsel to provide strategic legal support to their diverse range of clients. This team collaborates with start-ups, mid-sized firms, and global financial leaders, renowned for its excellence in investment fund services and recognized in top industry publications.
Core Responsibilities:
- Offer sophisticated advice to clients on regulatory and compliance matters affecting registered investment companies.
- Guide clients on adhering to federal regulations, particularly under the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act, and assist with complex fund documentation.
- Draft, review, and refine disclosures, agreements, and various legal documents for investment products like mutual funds, ETFs, and other financial offerings.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless client service across varied investment structures and transactions.
- Keep pace with financial sector developments, helping clients adapt to new regulations and take advantage of market opportunities.
Requirements
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate from a prestigious law school with a history of academic achievement.
- Active California Bar Admission.
- 3-6 years of direct experience advising registered investment companies.
- In-depth understanding of the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act.
- Knowledge of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), variable insurance products, business development companies, investment advisers, or commodities is highly regarded.
- Strong preference for individuals with large law firm experience, in-house experience, or a regulatory background.
