ALAW, an established, multi-state real estate and creditors’ rights law firm, is seeking a qualified Foreclosure Paralegal to join the team and provide support services for our practice in New York. This position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, and a full benefits package.
Responsibilities:
Legal Research and Documentation:
- Conduct thorough legal research related to foreclosure laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Assist attorneys in drafting and preparing legal documents such as complaints, motions, and briefs.
- Review and analyze foreclosure documents, contracts, and financial records.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, ensuring all necessary documents are properly filed and organized.
Case Management and Support:
- Collaborate with attorneys to manage a high volume of foreclosure, eviction and collections cases with a heavy focus on hearing related tasks i.e scheduling, readiness, attorney binders, coverage, results etc.
- Coordinate with clerks, judge’s offices, opposing counsel, in-house attorneys or coverage counsel to schedule hearings, trials, mediations, and other appearances
- Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to facilitate case progression.
- Prepare and distribute legal correspondence, notices, and other communications as required.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for court appearances, hearings, and trials by organizing evidence, exhibits, and other case materials.
- Maintain and update case management systems to track deadlines, court dates, and case developments.
Client Relations:
- Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, providing updates on case status and addressing inquiries.
- Coordinate with clients to obtain necessary documentation and information for foreclosure proceedings.
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of client information throughout the case process.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry practices related to creditors' rights and foreclosure.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all applicable legal and ethical standards.
- Conduct internal audits to verify the accuracy and completeness of case files and documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certification from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience as a paralegal, preferably in the area of creditors' rights
- Proficiency in conducting legal research using various resources and platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and case management.
- Proficiency in using legal software and case management systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information in a professional manner.
