Harter Secrest & Emery LLP is seeking a legal assistant to support attorneys in the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice group. Successful candidates will possess excellent organizational skills, a high level of of attention to detail and a strong focus on client service.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides comprehensive support for all aspects of general employee benefits practice; may support attorneys in other practice groups as needed
- Assists with preparation of client correspondence and documents, including proofreading, editing, formatting, printing and scanning
- Performs general administrative tasks including filing, calendar management, providing phone coverage, sorting and distributing mail, expense reimbursements and time sheet entry
- Drafts engagement letters and creates new matter intake forms
- Functions as a liaison with regulatory bodies and government agencies; communicate directly with clients when appropriate
- Prepares and sends client invoices and tracks client account billing data
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Two (2) years of legal assistant experience preferred, associate’s degree (Business or related field) highly desired. BA or BS a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of clients and staff; proven ability to provide exceptional client service.
- Strong organizational skills: ability to respond to multiple priorities and plan work to meet varying deadlines.
- Knowledge of Employee Benefits practice area including procedures, forms, and terminology desirable.
- Ability to proofread and check typed material for grammatical, typographical, spelling, word usage and format errors.
- Strong writing skills, including proper spelling and correct grammar; accuracy; attention to details and figures.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Recruiting Information:
· Competitive compensation dependent upon education and relevance of prior work experience. This is a 37.5-hour work week.

- Salary Range: $25-$29 per hour
