Duties Serves as the Regional Nurse Consultant, Medical Asset Support Team (MAST), for the Bureau of Prisons’ (BOP) correctional facilities located within the assigned Region. Assigned at an institution within the Region, and will be required to travel to any of the institutions within the Region to assist in patient care, training of other nursing staff, peer review, recruitment, nursing education, technical assistance or follow-up evaluation on clinical or administrative nursing issues identified by Program Review, Joint Commission, the American Correctional Association (ACA), the Chief Nurse/Central Office, the Regional Health Services Administrator (RHSA), the Regional Medical Director (RMD) or other internal or external reviews, when indicated. Provides nursing expertise and leadership throughout the Region, assisting in the assessment of current patient care delivery systems and making recommendations for improvements, based on evidence-based practice. Maintains an up-to-date and thorough knowledge of all Health Services Policies, BOP National Formulary, BOP Policies affecting Nursing services, BOP Clinical Practice Guidelines, Joint Commission Accrediting Standards and Central Office guidance. Responsible for the quality and appropriateness of comprehensive nursing care provided to patients. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs’ correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. Salary- $88,621 - $115,213/year
