About the Position: This position is located at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center (WHASC) at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation under the Direct-Hire for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense Workforce.
Duties
- Provide available health benefits programs information to eligible beneficiaries.
- Interpret regulatory health information for eligible individuals.
- Explain order of priority of entitlement to beneficiaries.
- Counsel personnel on rights, benefits, or obligations available through the Tri-Service Medical Care (TRICARE) program.
- Provide detailed billing or claims information to beneficiaries.
- Verify eligibility with healthcare agencies for medical services.
- Troubleshoot billing problems for TRICARE (Tri-Service Medical Care) beneficiaries or medical providers.
- Report progress towards resolving outstanding billing problems to treatment facility management.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing health information automated systems, verifying insurance benefits for patients, and providing billing or claims information to beneficiaries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
