
What You Will Bring
· Minimum 5 years of legal experience, preferably in a large law firm or corporate legal department, with a focus on corporate and commercial transactions.
· Knowledge of the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar privacy laws preferred.
· Juris Doctor Degree; member in good standing of a state bar (CA preferred).
· CIPP certification a plus.
· Excellent and proven analytical, contract interpretation and negotiation skills.
· Disciplined work ethic and ability to manage time and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Knowledge of contractual issues and terms.
· Strong attention to detail to spot issues and deadlines.
· Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate in clear and concise manner complex legal issues in layman’s terms to all levels of the organization.
· Ability to research in a thorough and effective manner and to distill complex legal requirements into a usable and practical framework.
· Willingness to undertake substantial and diverse job responsibilities.
· Ability to work proactively and independently and as part of legal and business teams.
· Willingness to explore and identify creative alternative solutions to facilitate business initiatives.
· Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across the organization.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
· Ability to become proficient in various legal-technology systems and tools.
Work Environment
Employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is performed in an office environment.
The posted salary range for this job takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. Successful candidates may be hired anywhere in the salary range based on these factors. It is uncommon to hire candidates at or near the top of the range.

What to Expect
The Senior Counsel is responsible to facilitate Hyundai Capital America (HCA) business transactions by providing legal support and advice to in-house clients on a variety of corporate and commercial transactions. Responsibilities include providing legal advice and guidance in connection with business projects, strategic initiatives and product development. In addition, transactional work may include collaboration activities with our OEMs and other strategic transactions. The Senior Counsel will also coordinate and liaise with outside counsel, as needed, on complex business contracts and projects.
What You Will Do
Provide transactional legal support to support strategic initiatives and new product launches, including negotiating, drafting, and/or reviewing a wide variety of corporate and commercial agreements, including software as a service, rental, equipment lease, licensing, marketing and product or service agreements relevant to HCA business needs.
