DutiesIf selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for a comprehensive suite of Human Resources program areas for the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Texas. You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant for an organization of administrative/legal professionals and attorneys. Typical work assignments will include:
- Process a wide range of personnel actions within various functional areas of personnel management for assigned service areas.
- Respond to applicants, visitors, and/or telephone callers interested in obtaining employment.
- Process new employees and conducts orientation sessions on such matters as health benefits, life insurance, thrift savings, retirement and military service credit, and deposits/redeposits owed.
- Review, process and resolve problems/discrepancies relative to personnel actions.
- Collect information for employees and managers/supervisors on employee benefits, and answer questions regarding entitlements.
- Assemble background investigation packages.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Salary
- $49,365 - $71,315/year
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.

To qualify for the position of Human Resources Assistant, at GS-0203-6/7, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below.
Specialized Experience - GS06: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: using automated systems for tracking the status of work-related processes; entering data into one or more computer systems; obtaining needed information from files or general reference sources; providing office automation support (e.g. creating, copying, editing, storing, retrieving a variety of documents); or maintaining administrative files or records.
Specialized Experience - GS07: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: briefing new hires on entitlements; providing customer support to internal and external customers; providing office automation support (e.g. creating, copying, editing, storing, retrieving a variety of documents); using computers and software programs in an office environment to extract, revise, or sort information from files, records, or databases; or researching regulations, policies, and/or personnel guidance.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
