Job Title: Family Law Attorney
Location: Remote with the exception of Court/Client Appointments
Position Type: Contract (Initial 6 Months), Potential for Full-Time
Reports To: Managing Attorney
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Law Attorney to join our firm on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to demonstrate skill, reliability, and commitment with the potential for transition to a full-time role based on performance and firm needs. The Attorney’s primary responsibility is to represent clients with professionalism, integrity, and zeal under the direction and supervision of the Managing Attorney. This position requires a deep understanding of family law and its subspecialties, along with the ability to manage a diverse caseload while delivering top-tier legal advocacy and service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with clients to evaluate the details and merits of their cases.
  • Conduct legal research using legislation, case law, legal commentary, and other sources.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents including motions, pleadings, reports, and correspondence.
  • Prepare thoroughly for client meetings, depositions, court hearings, and trials.
  • Represent clients in legal proceedings including depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials.
  • Advocate effectively for client interests, demonstrating sound judgment and legal expertise.
  • Provide timely updates and strategic input to the Managing Attorney regarding case progress and key developments.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case notes, ensuring all work is properly documented.
  • Safeguard client confidentiality and ensure secure handling of sensitive information.
  • Log hours accurately for each assignment and meet internal billing expectations.
  • Stay informed about current developments and changes in family law and related areas.
  • Maintain a positive and professional online presence in alignment with the firm's values, mission, and vision.
  • Collaborate with other team members and support firm-wide initiatives as needed to provide exceptional client service.
Qualifications
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
Experience:
Minimum 6 years of experience in family law preferred.
