- The Victim Intervention Specialist provides specialized intervention services to victims of violent crime or family violence and provides training within the criminal justice system and in the community to facilitate increased knowledge and understanding of family violence dynamics and to promote sensitivity to victims. This position assists with preparing cases for court.
- Examples of Duties
Facilitates increased knowledge and understanding of abuse victims to the criminal justice system and the community.
Works as a victim advocate in ensuring the victims are aware of their rights; refers victims to other resources in the county as necessary.
Enters in all intakes and follows each case from beginning to end.
Assists with trials, including interviewing victims and witnesses, prepping witnesses for trial, accompanying the victim and families to court, explaining the court process and procedures, and providing counseling during the trial.
Provides crisis counseling as necessary.
Oversees and maintains victim and family contact via phone or office visits.
Sends out VIS packets, CVC forms, and school notifications as necessary.
Provides training or education to the community.
Assists attorneys with case staffing; ensuring all cases are assigned as necessary.
Takes pictures of crime scenes for trial; prints pictures for grand jury as necessary.
Oversees court accompaniment procedures.
Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Performs other related duties as required.
- Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree and a minimum three years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
LCSW, LMSW or LPC required.
