ABOUT THE ORLEANS PARISH DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE (OPDA):
Jason Rogers Williams took office as the Orleans Parish District Attorney on January 11, 2021, and is building a 21st-century prosecutors' office with a team of the best and brightest from around the country and a mission of being as smart on crime as the office has historically been tough on crime. It is the mission of OPDA to increase public safety through the ethical, consistent, and zealous enforcement of the law.
JOB SUMMARY:
Legal Assistants provide meaningful contributions through a number of tasks, such as delivering efficient case intake, file creation and completeness; facilitating efficient discovery preparation; and other related duties. Legal Assistants enable attorneys to effectively assess and manage cases.
REPORTS TO:
Chief of Trial/Legal Assistants
CLASSIFICATION:
Full-Time, Non-Exempt
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Duties and Responsibilities of the Legal Assistant include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Enter new case referrals and allotment information into case management system
- Compile evidence in coordination with OPDA investigators
- Prepare discovery and apply necessary redactions
- Tag and sort documents in the case management system
- Update information in case management system as needed
- Prepare complete case files
This list is intended to outline key duties and responsibilities, but is not exhaustive. The Legal Assistant may be required to perform other support functions as assigned to meet the needs of OPDA.

- Strong attention to detail and high concern for accuracy
- Comfort with technology and utilization of case management system
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to perform in-person, office-based work
- Dependability in both attendance and work product
- Commitment to seeking justice for victims and their families
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary $39,000 - $45,000 annually commensurate with experience.
