We are seeking an experienced Litigation Defense Attorney to join our Baltimore office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is looking to take ownership of a diverse litigation caseload, work directly with sophisticated clients, and continue developing their litigation and trial skills alongside experienced attorneys and Partners.
This position offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement.
The Position
As a Litigation Defense Attorney, you will have the opportunity to manage matters from inception through resolution while working on a variety of challenging cases. You will be trusted with meaningful responsibility while having access to the resources, experience, and collaborative support of a national litigation practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of a diverse litigation caseload, managing matters from beginning through resolution
- Develop case strategy and work closely with Partners and other attorneys on complex legal matters
- Regularly appear in court, take and defend depositions, and participate in other key aspects of litigation
- Handle motion practice, discovery, legal research, and written advocacy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and serve as a trusted legal advisor
- Prepare regular case evaluations and status reports while keeping clients informed throughout the litigation process
- Collaborate with colleagues across the firm and draw on the resources of a nationwide litigation platform
- Continue to develop your advocacy, litigation, and trial skills through hands-on experience
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in Maryland
- 7+ years of litigation experience, with experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:
- Medical malpractice
- General liability
- Construction
- Professional liability
- Transportation
- Strong experience with motion practice, discovery, depositions, and legal writing
- Trial and trial preparation experience is a plus
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
- A collaborative, client-focused approach to practicing law
Wilson Elser offers a competitive salary and benefits package designed to support our attorneys both professionally and personally.
A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full-time and therefore qualifies for benefits including 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
Salary Range:
$170,000 - $200,000 USD
