SJLF is a nonprofit civil rights group fighting for justice and accountability through trial litigation.  With a team of first-rate litigators, we develop complex, novel cases in areas ripe for strategic litigation on behalf of and alongside historically excluded communities.  At the same time, our two-year fellowship trains young lawyers in the nuts and bolts of trial litigation, giving them hands-on experience translating community needs and solutions to the courtroom.  Since our launch in 2021, we have developed high-impact cases challenging conditions of immigration detention, police misconduct, punitive fines and fees, the criminalization of poverty, and violations of prisoners’ rights.
