Position Summary

The legal intern will join Guggenheim Securities, LLC’s team-orientated legal department for one year to support the drafting and negotiation of NDAs and other documentation related to the firm’s fast-growing business.  The ideal candidate is a talented, motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced work environment.  The legal intern will be expected to manage multiple time-sensitive projects with a focus on working collaboratively and with strong attention to detail, which may include working certain evenings and weekends regularly and as needed.  The ideal candidate is also a creative problem-solver who is highly responsive to meeting the needs of internal firm clients. This is an ideal role for a recent college graduate contemplating law school who wants firsthand exposure to how legal documentation supports high-profile business transactions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with managing the NDA intake process, including organizing and tracking incoming requests.
  • Review NDA drafts using approved templates and internal playbooks.
  • Review and compare markups of NDAs received from counterparties against our playbook guidelines.
  • Flag issues for review and help prepare summary comments and escalation memos for attorney review.
  • Maintain accurate records in the NDA tracking and reporting systems, and update and maintain internal playbooks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in law, business, or financial services.
  • Confident and mature, with practical and sound judgment
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority requests in a demanding, fast paced environment and to maintain complete confidentiality
  • Strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in law and finance
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various business groups while providing responsiveness, accountability and unyielding integrity

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

Work Location

  • Currently, this role is expected to be in the ­­­­New York office at least 4 days per week. 

Salary

  • $20 per hour, 40 hours a week
