Job Description

The Senior Business Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting the International Litigation and Arbitration Department (ILAD) business development needs. This is a full-time (37.5 hour/week) position based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. This position oversees a wide variety of activities including drafting proposal and presentations, pitch and proposal tracking and metrics, and business development and competitive intelligence research. This position is also responsible for creating and maintaining department master documents. This role will report to the Senior Business Development Manager, ILAD.  

This hybrid role requires in-office presence in our DC office at least three days per week to foster collaboration and connection. Onsite expectations and specific days may evolve depending on team and business needs 

Responsibilities 

  • Assist with all new ILAD business pitches and RFPs. Catalogue materials properly within both ILAD and Business Development files for future reference.  
  • Keep a calendar of and assist with ILAD-related survey, directory and league table submissions. This will include, but not be limited to, Chambers & Partners (Global, USA, Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America); Legal 500 (USA, EMEA, Latin America); Global Arbitration Review; Latinvex; Law360; Best Lawyers.  
  • Maintain the ILAD department attorney and paralegal biographies on the website in keeping with the firm’s standard format. This will require drafting all ILAD bios in English and Spanish, and coordinating French translations as needed.  
  • With the Senior BD Manager for ILAD, draft and develop “off-the-shelf” marketing collateral that accurately reflects the firm’s ILAD expertise. This role will take the lead on drafting all content in English and Spanish, and coordinate French translations as needed, and will work with the firm’s business development team to maintain brand and production consistency and quality.  
  • Maintain the master database of all ILAD representative matters to be used for marketing or experience tracking purposes. Work closely with the Senior BD Manager for ILAD to ensure that data is maintained in a manner consistent with overall firm matter data.  
  • Work closely with the department’s event team to provide “on the ground” support for ILAD and other departments’ events happening in Washington, D.C. (on or off site) and occasionally in other locations.  
  • Coordinate with the Communications team on ILAD-related social media posts, press releases, website updates, and other marketing initiatives.  
  • In close coordination with the Senior BD Manager for ILAD and the Communications team, identify appropriate publications to target for attorney articles or interviews and ensure attorneys meet any required production or interview deadlines.  
  • Assist the Senior BD Manager for ILAD with specific projects supporting ILAD and other BD team members in the Washington, D.C. office as needed. 

Qualifications  

  • Native level fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written) required. Working knowledge of French preferred but not required.  
  • Project Management: 2-3+ years marketing or business development experience, with significant and demonstrable project management experience.  This role requires the ability to organize large amounts of content in a logical manner.  
  • Client service: Ability to manage multiple projects at once and respond quickly to inquiries so as to serve as an ambassador of superior internal client service.  This role requires hands-on abilities with limited support in a team environment. 
  • Communication skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written formats. Attention to detail is a key skill for this role.  
  • Work style: Ability to prioritize competing stakeholders and deadlines with a pleasant and professional demeanor. Willingness to learn all aspects of the Business Development function is a must.  
  • Education and prior service: A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in International Relations, Political Science, Business, or Communications or a related field. Experience in a law firm and/or professional services industry is preferred, as is knowledge of International Arbitration.  
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: This role requires an enthusiastic learner, inquisitive and willing to think outside the box and try new ways of delivering work product.  
  • Technology skills: Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products (with a particular focus on Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and InterAction or other similar CRM systems. Prior experience with use of AI in the Legal Business Development context preferred, must be willing and able to learn new technology tools. 

Compensation range is $88,000 to $110,000 commensurate with related experience and qualification. The salary of the candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the firm's reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
