GEICO is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Paralegal in the Privacy, Cybersecurity, Technology & AI division of GEICO’s Corporate Legal Department supporting cutting edge Privacy, Data, Technology, and AI initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with exemplary organization, discretion, and reliability, able to deliver high-quality support in a fast-moving environment. The candidate must be able to consistently maintain accuracy and professionalism while efficiently adapting to shifting priorities and proactively supporting complex litigation and investigations.  The candidate should also be interested in and willing to continuously learn about new and emerging technologies, AI and data use and the quickly evolving regulatory environment impacting this area.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Tracking new laws, regulations and cases impacting use of data, technology and AI at GEICO and updating and maintaining databases with this information

  • Summarizing and providing information on general trends on proposed legislation and regulations

  • Assisting with Knowledge Management efforts and the development of stakeholder PowerPoint presentations leveraging such assets

  • Conducting initial assessments of privacy incidents and triaging items needing substantive legal review

  • Reviewing and assisting with the updating of records retention schedules and policies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in a paralegal role in a law firm or in-house legal department (required)

  • Prior experience with privacy, data governance, and AI implementation (preferred)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office® applications (e.g., Word®, Excel®, Outlook®, PowerPoint®), including redlining/document compare functionality in Word and building high quality PowerPoint presentation decks

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines with minimal oversight

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, privacy principles, and related regulatory trends; curiosity to learn what’s new and explain it clearly

  • Background in insurance/financial services, health, or other highly regulated sectors (preferred)


Location: Hybrid - This position is a Hybrid role and will require 3 days working onsite in our Chevy Chase, MD office.


 

Annual Salary

$92,250.00 - $144,525.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
