SALARY GRADE: 15The Office of the Clerk of the Supreme Court of North Carolina, seeks an individual to serve in the position of Appellate Clerk II to perform specialized clerical and administrative work.
This individual may perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, the following:
- Prepare and send orders on behalf of the Supreme Court.
- Prepare certificates of good standing on behalf of the Court and send them to attorneys.
- Prepare, process, and maintain appellate case files, including archiving records and managing evidence.
- Prepare, process, and maintain general office files.
- Provide assistance, in person, in writing, and over the phone, to members of the Court, staff of the Court, members of the public, and parties appearing before the Court.
- Order supplies for staff of the Court.
- Retrieve, process, and distribute mail daily.
- Provide backup and support to other team members.
- Provide general administrative support to the Clerk of the Supreme Court
- Other duties as assigned.

Salary- $45,860 - $69,030/year
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Knowledge of: NC general statutes; the North Carolina Rules of Appellate Procedure or Supreme Court procedure; basic accounting principles; legal terminology; the court system practices, forms, and procedures; and general office and clerical procedures.
Skills in: basic math; active listening; managing a high volume of public interaction; effectively communicating both verbally and in writing; fast, accurate data entry; good attention to detail; problem solving; and MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to: read and comprehend legal documents; present themselves in a professional manner; interact diplomatically and professionally with a diverse group of people; multi-task; adjust to unexpected events; meet deadlines; organize and manage files; work independently; maintain confidentiality; provide procedural information without giving legal advice; and maintain cooperative working relationships with the court and the Bar.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience working for a court or law practice.
