Job Summary
Gunderson Dettmer has an opening for a Senior Attorney Development Manager in our Silicon Valley office. The Senior Attorney Development Manager works in conjunction with the Chief Talent Officer, the Senior Director of Attorney Development, practice group chairs, and other members of firm leadership to develop and implement strategic learning and development initiatives for firm attorneys focusing on professional development and retention; and ensures equitable distribution of assignments aligned with the clients' needs and individual professional development goals.

Essential Job Duties
Manage productivity through oversight of the staffing and workload monitoring processes for associates in the Tech and Corporate practice groups.
Oversee the firm’s West Coast mid-year and end-of-year evaluation processes.
Collaborate with the Tech and Corporate partners to implement strategic initiatives related to associate career planning and advancement.
Promote and encourage attendance at firm training programs.
Manage the firm’s first-year orientation program and related on-boarding and integration efforts.
Conduct the 30/90-day integration surveys for new associates and laterals and analyzes data.
Provide coaching to associates on work allocation, learning and education planning and career goal setting.
Assign partner mentors to new associates, provide resources to facilitate mentoring program engagement and solicit program feedback.
Facilitate and foster communication and build rapport among partners, associates, business professionals and members of firm leadership.
Conducting exit interviews for departing associates.
Analyze exit interview data, provide summary reports to firm leadership to identify trends and develop actionable recommendations for improving attorney retention and engagement.
Leverage data analytics tools and best practices to report on key metrics to inform talent strategies and development initiatives
Liaise with firm departments to facilitate associate arrivals/departures and office transfers.
Lead orientation meetings for new associates and laterals.
Schedule and prepare for training programs, retreats, meetings, and special events.
Manage, train, evaluate, mentor and motivate direct reports, contributing to their development and advancement by setting standards, goals and expectations for expected and successful performance.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferably in human resources or organizational development, or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of five years professional development experience preferably in a large law firm.
Three or more years of supervisory experience.
J.D. desired with previous law firm practice experience (preferred in Corporate/Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (ECVC).

The expected starting salary for this position is $150,000 - $180,000 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
