Job Description
The Supervisory Attorney Advisor position is in the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), Department of Administrative Services, Facilities and Security Office (FSO), Security and Facilities Policy Staff. FSO oversees and manages the development and execution of security, emergency preparedness, space and facilities programs for federal courts.
Duties The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), Facilities and Security Office (FSO) is seeking a dynamic, high-energy, and experienced Supervisory Attorney Advisor to serve as the Chief, Security & Facilities Policy Staff (SFPS). This position reports directly to the Deputy Chief of the FSO. SFPS executes the Judicial facilities and security priorities, provides staff support to the AO's Space and Security Advisory Council (SSAC), and reviews and responds to legislation impacting the Judiciary's space and physical security programs. SFPS provides expertise to the Judicial Conference of the United States (JCUS) and manages the portfolios of the Judicial Conference Committees on Space and Facilities and Judicial Security. SFPS works with the General Services Administration, U.S. Marshals Service, Federal Protective Service, and other AO offices to achieve its mission. The Supervisory Attorney Advisor oversees and manages complex and multi-faced nationwide programs; oversee the legal and legislative issues that flow from these programs; and coordinates with senior officials and service providers. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of federal judicial administration and strong legal writing skills. Additionally, the candidate must possess outstanding diplomatic, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills. The candidate must have experience working collaboratively with supervisors, colleagues, and external stakeholders. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Overseeing the research and preparation of draft agendas, background materials, reports, and other documents related to the biannual meetings of the Judicial Conference Committee on Space and Facilities and the Judicial Conference Committee on Judicial Security; and the meetings of the Space and Advisory Council and other related advisory groups. Leading the staff and efforts supporting the Committee on Space and Facilities and the Committee on Judicial Security, ensuring matters within the Committees' jurisdiction progress in a timely an efficient manner and stakeholders are appropriately advised of current actions. Identifying and tracking legislative actions within the Committees' jurisdictions; drafting and coordinating responses to legislative inquiries; and developing and participating in congressional briefings, including representing the views of the Judicial Conference and the Judiciary to congressional staff and executive branch officials. Presenting and discussing legal issues with internal and external stakeholders, including Committee members, federal judges, local court executives, and executive branch partners. Overseeing and managing the development, implementation, and execution of complex and multi-faceted nationwide programs. Assisting AO staff with the development, approval, and execution Judiciary's annual facilities and physical security programs budgets. Managing and providing staff support for studies and reviews of the Judiciary's space and physical security programs, including external reviews like those conducted by the Government Accountability Office. Ensuring the SFPS is adequately resourced to perform its mission. Overseeing daily SFPS operations, including financial management, staffing, space, resources, travel, payroll, leave, performance, and training. Salary- $167,617 - $207,500/year
