Job Description

Job Description:  The Queens County District Attorney's Office has an opening for a Managerial Position in the Hate Crimes Bureau.  The position entails handling the vertical case load of felony cases involving investigating possible bias cases and prosecuting of hate crimes.  This commonly involves working extensively with members of the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force and often concern incidents which garner significant media attention.  In addition to handling these investigations and cases, the position also requires community outreach to impacted groups and educating members of the public and law enforcement on hate crime prosecution.

The manager supervises attorneys and support staff conducting investigations and prosecutions in the Hate Crimes Bureau.

Qualifications:  An interested applicant must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have at least 7 years of experience as a prosecutor.  Applicants should also have:

  • Substantial grand jury and felony trial experience
  • Experience in investigations, including, but not limited to, drafting search warrants
  • Talent and proficiency with PowerPoint presentations
  • Strong organization, written and oral skills

Pursuant to Public Officers Law Section 3(1), United States citizenship is required of all Assistant District Attorneys upon commencement of their employment, as is New York State residency.

Title and salary will be commensurate with experience. Salary ranges from $112,500 to $175,000.
