We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our legal department. In this role, you will provide essential support by managing documents, conducting research, and assisting with contract review and compliance matters. Your expertise will play a crucial role in streamlining our processes and ensuring legal accuracy across various projects. In this role, you will:
- Assist in-house counsel with all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, focusing on commercial real estate leasing.
- Draft, review, and edit a variety of legal documents, including commercial real estate leases, construction contracts, purchase agreements, and service agreements, in consultation with other departments.
- Manage administrative tasks, such as contract intake, document organization, and client communication.
- Conduct due diligence for real estate and other corporate transactions.
- Prepare and file documents with the government agencies.
- Research and analyze relevant statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal resources using computerized research systems like Westlaw.
- Support board meeting preparation by drafting agendas and recording minutes.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulatory updates to ensure compliance and best practice.
- Act as a liaison between the company and clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and efficient communication.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration within the legal team and across other departments.
- Maintain accurate and organized records, both physical and digital, including corporate documents and databases.
- Proofread legal documents to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a paralegal, within a real estate/real property practice group at a law firm or the legal department of a real estate development company, with a focus on commercial real estate leasing, including drafting, reviewing, and editing office, retail, and industrial lease agreements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Florida Registered Paralegal (FRP) or a nationally recognized paralegal certification (e.g., NALA, NFPA, NALS).
- Experience in real estate litigation (including evictions).
- Familiarity with title and survey review, ADA compliance, personal injury law, or employment law.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of legal and real estate terminology.
- Excellent analytical, research, and investigation skills.
- Proficiency in using Ironclad or similar contract management software is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Westlaw or other computerized legal research systems and tools.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to maintain high-quality performance.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the company.
Hours and Location
- Hours 8:30am to 5:30pm
- This role will be an office-based position in Miami Lakes, Florida.
- Some work-from-home is acceptable but may be eliminated in the future.
