Job Description

Calibrate has been retained by a nationally recognized law firm to recruit a Talent Acquisition and Development Manager to join their Washington, DC office. This AmLaw 50 firm is known for its collaborative culture, global reach, and long-standing commitment to excellence and innovation in legal services. Reporting to the senior leadership within the Talent function, the Manager will be responsible for executing the firm’s attorney recruiting and talent development strategy at the local level. This role is instrumental in delivering a seamless experience to attorneys across the lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through professional development and retention.

Key responsibilities:

  • Attorney Recruiting & Campus Engagement: Lead full-cycle attorney recruitment efforts, including on-campus recruiting and summer associate programming, while building strong relationships with law schools and external partners to attract top-tier legal talent.
  • Workforce Planning & Strategic Hiring: Collaborate with firm leadership and hiring partners to assess talent needs, implement local recruiting strategies, and align hiring efforts with broader business goals and evolving practice demands.
  • Onboarding, Integration & Early-Career Support: Manage the onboarding process for new attorneys and business professionals, ensuring a smooth integration into the firm’s culture and operations through orientation, check-ins, and tailored support for junior associates.
  • Professional Development & Performance Management: Oversee local implementation of attorney development initiatives, coordinate training programs, and support performance management processes in partnership with the Talent Development Committee.
  • Talent Team Leadership & Operational Oversight: Supervise and mentor members of the local Talent team, manage recruiting and development budgets, and ensure consistency with firmwide policies, standards, and programs.
  • Culture, Collaboration & Firmwide Engagement: Serve as a strategic partner across the Talent function and firm offices to promote a cohesive, inclusive culture and deliver a consistent attorney experience aligned with the firm’s values and priorities.

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of seven years of relevant experience, ideally within a U.S.-based law firm or professional services organization. The Talent Acquisition and Development Manager should demonstrate a deep understanding of attorney recruiting and professional development. The ideal candidate will offer a balance of strategic vision and practical execution, with proven expertise in attorney recruiting, strong leadership and communication abilities, and the capacity to build trusted relationships across all levels of the firm.
