Job Description

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). The mission of DOJ is to uphold the rule of law, keep the country safe and protect civil rights. The OJP mission is to increase public safety and improve the fair administration of justice across America through innovative leadership and programs.

Duties - Serves as a Grants Management Specialist in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), Youth Justice and System Innovation Division (YJSID). - Aids OJJDP's mission by assisting states and communities in creating and executing effective prevention and intervention programs. - Enhances the juvenile justice system to ensure it promotes public safety, holds youth accountable for their actions, and offers treatment and rehabilitation services tailored to the specific needs of juveniles and their families. - Acts as a specialist in managing grants and cooperative agreements, offering expert advice and guidance to address and navigate complex issues related to approach and methodology. - Serves as a technical expert in the evaluation of applications for complex discretionary grants and agreements solicitations. - Acts as a subject matter expert on juvenile and criminal justice systems, programs, and issues. Qualifications Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: - Served as a representative on intergovernmental panels, committees, and/or working groups that focus on analyzing grant-making processes and/or developing juvenile justice-related issues and topics. - Managed, or assisted in managing, a diverse range of complex grants and cooperative agreements, offering advice, guidance, and/or information on grants and agreements involving unique challenges and/or processes. - Managed, or assisted in managing, the full spectrum of grant closure and disposition activities, including preparing final assessments of compliance with statutory requirements for property disposition, financial reconciliation, and the resolution of adverse audit findings.
