Corporate Attorney

Major Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate contracts with customers, suppliers, consultants and other vendors
• Develop and provide formal client training in substantive areas of contract law, the contract negotiation process, and Essendant’s contract approval policy
• Maintain and update Essendant’s template agreements to address legal and business changes
• Under general supervision, carry out broad and complex assignments involving coordination with multiple functional areas within the company
• Research and analyze various legal issues and render opinions on optimal courses of action
• Provide general legal support and guidance to Sales team
• Understand and demonstrate Essendant’s Core Values & Guiding Actions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Knowledge Required

• Significant experience drafting and negotiating contracts. Note that strong transactional background (M&A or real estate) could suffice
• Significant experience in leading transactions and/or cross-functional projects
• Strong track record in process improvement
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education and Experience

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Admitted to Illinois bar
• A minimum of four (4) years prior legal experience

Salary Range: $155,000-$165,000

Salary

• $155,000 - $165,000
