This role is based in Portland, Oregon and is part of a collaborative national practice group, working closely with attorneys across offices, including the firm's Tampa, Florida group. It is an excellent opportunity for an associate who wants substantive labor relations work, direct client contact, and a clear path to develop within a firm where growth is the core of the culture.

Qualifications

  • Admission to practice in Oregon, California, or Florida in good standing.
  • Three to five years of experience practicing at a law firm, with a focus on employment law, labor and relations.

  • Strong research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively within a distributed team

Responsibilities

  • Advise and represent employer clients on labor matters, including collective bargaining, union organizing campaigns, and union-avoidance strategy
  • Handle grievances, labor arbitrations, and unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board
  • Counsel clients on the labor implications of day-to-day operations, workplace policies, and business decisions
  • Draft and review collective bargaining agreements, position statements, briefs, and related documents
  • Collaborate with attorneys across the national practice group, including the Tampa office, on shared matters
  • Maintain direct client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the West Coast practice
  • Work in lean, integrated teams alongside experienced labor relations practitioners

Extensive Benefit Package

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus bonus potential
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) plan with profit sharing
  • Generous paid time off and parental leave
  • Professional development support, including CLE and bar dues
  • Flexible and hybrid work arrangements
  • A collaborative, high-growth environment that values initiative and continuous development
